The AI Visibility Audit

One prompt shows you whether AI recommends a place like yours, how you stack up against the competitors it names instead, and exactly what to fix. Real, sourced research, not guesses.

83% of restaurants are invisible to AI. Let's see if you're one of them.

Am I showing up?

Test whether AI actually recommends a place like yours, with the sources it used.

How do I compare?

Ranked against the real local competitors AI names instead of you.

What do I fix?

A prioritized fix list, ranked by impact and effort.

New to this? Start here

  1. Go to chatgpt.com or claude.ai and sign in (free to start).
  2. Turn on web search. This tool needs the live internet or it will guess. In ChatGPT, click the Search/globe toggle under the box or start your message with "Search the web and...". In Claude, enable web search in Settings.
  3. Copy the first prompt below, paste it, swap the [brackets] for your info, and hit enter.
The one rule that keeps it honest: if the AI answers without a real source link, reply "Only use sources you can actually open and cite. If unsure, say so."
How it works

Run it in one prompt

Paste this into a web-enabled ChatGPT or Claude, fill in the brackets, and read the report it gives you back. Screenshot it so you can track your progress later.

Fill in the brackets with your details and send it. It runs all three parts in one pass.

PROMPT
Search the web and act as a real diner. My restaurant: [name], [website], [full address], [cuisine], check average [$/$$/$$$].

1) SHOW-UP TEST. Answer these the way a diner would, and list the exact listing or source you pulled each answer from: best [cuisine] in [neighborhood]; where to take a date in [city]; good [cuisine] near [a landmark 5 minutes away], open now; best [signature dish] in [city]. For each, name every restaurant you mention and say clearly whether I appear.

2) COMPETITOR GAP. For the places you named instead of me, compare us on the signals AI actually uses: Google Business Profile completeness, website clarity and structured data, review count and recency and whether reviews name specific dishes and occasions, listing consistency across Google, Yelp and TripAdvisor, and recent press. Show a table, me versus each competitor, and mark where I am behind.

3) FIX LIST. Give me a fix list ranked by impact and effort, highest impact and lowest effort first. For each: exactly what to do, why it moves AI visibility, and how long it takes. Specific to my gaps, not generic.

Rule: only use facts you can actually open and cite. If you cannot verify something, say so instead of guessing.
The honest part

What it does, and what stays yours

AI builds its answer from what is public about you: your listings, your website, your reviews. So this audit is only as accurate as what it can find, which is exactly the point. The gaps it surfaces are the same gaps costing you the recommendation. Keep web search on, make it cite every source, and treat anything it cannot verify as unconfirmed rather than fact.
Why this works

The rules quietly changed

AI builds its recommendations from your listings, your website, and your reviews, not your social feed. When those agree and use the words diners search, AI recommends you. When they are thin or inconsistent, it picks a competitor. A year ago 6% of diners used AI to choose a restaurant. Today it is 45%. This audit finds the gaps before they cost you another full section on a Friday night.
