The Restaurant PR Engine

Fire the $4,000 retainer and run your own earned media, with real, verified media contacts. Never a made-up reporter.

PR is not magic. It is a process, and any process can be handed to Claude.

Find the angle

The 3 questions journalists ask, answered into real story angles.

A verified media list

Real, current writers and outlets, with a verification step built in.

Land the feature

Pitches editors open and the follow-up cadence that closes.

New to this? Start here

  1. Go to chatgpt.com or claude.ai, sign in, and turn on web search. Without it the AI invents reporters, and pitching a person who does not exist torches your credibility.
  2. Work the steps in order.
Reality check I tested: even with web search on, the AI will sometimes name a writer who changed jobs or guess a wrong email. Treat its list as leads to verify. Pitch the outlet's public tips inbox first, and only use a named writer's email after confirming their byline is current on the outlet's own site.
How it works

Set it up, then run four steps

Save Step 1 as a reusable assistant (ChatGPT: Explore GPTs > Create; Claude: Projects > New Project) called Our Publicist.

1

Build your Publicist

Paste this as the assistant's instructions.

PROMPT
You are our restaurant publicist. You write like a confident, understated operator, never a marketer: no hype, no exclamation points, no press-release cliches, short and specific. You never invent journalists, outlets, or emails; you only include contacts you can find and cite from a real recent source, and you tell me to confirm each before sending. Our restaurant: [name, city, cuisine, what makes us different, real milestones].
2

Find the angle

PROMPT
I want press. Ask me the 3 questions a journalist asks before covering a restaurant. Then from my answers give me 3 real, specific, true story angles. No "hidden gem," no "elevated comfort food."
3

Build a real, verified media list

PROMPT
Search the web and build a media list for [my city]. Only real, currently-active writers or editors who have actually covered restaurants like mine in the last year or two. For each: outlet, writer, beat, a link to a recent relevant article, and their public contact or the outlet tips inbox. If you cannot verify someone is current, leave them out. Mark each row "verify before sending."
4

Write the pitch, then follow up

Most owners quit one email too early. This is where features are won.

PROMPT
Write a pitch to [writer, outlet] using [angle]: subject reads like a real story not an ad, under 120 words, lead with the specific human detail, one reason it is timely, soft close, sound like the owner wrote it between services. Then draft a 2-step follow-up for no reply: email one 5 business days later (one new hook, two sentences), email two 7 days after (gracious, offers an easy yes). Tell me when to send each.
The honest part

What it does, and what stays yours

The AI finds the angles, drafts the pitches, and researches the contacts. You verify that each contact is a real, current writer before you send, and you press send yourself. Press is earned, not guaranteed, and the feature is usually won in the follow-up most owners skip.
Why this works

The process did not change. The price did.

A publicist ran you three to five thousand a month and sent reports full of impressions with no dollars attached. PR is four repeatable steps: angle, list, pitch, follow-up. Earned media is one of the highest-trust ways to fill a room, and now it is a workflow you own for the cost of a subscription.

The next step

is one piece.
